Although Plougasnou has always taken advantage of the sea, to ensure its development, notably with two fishing ports in the area, only since the 20th century has the town been transformed into a seaside resort. With an attractive location in the north-east of the Baie de Morlaix bay, the town benefited from a railway line, which linked Morlaix to Primel Plougasnou, to attract the first lovers of sea swimming. In the Belle-Epoque, the town witnessed seaside villas as well as the large hotels along the seafront flourish. Numerous artists and celebrities, such as Nina Ricci and Alexandre Dumas came to stay here.

Make the most of the Plougasnou beaches during your camping holiday
The nearest beaches to our Baie de Morlaix campsite, in Plougasnou, are Primel Trégastel and Venizella. From the Domaine de Mesqueau, you will get to Primel Trégastel, Plougasnou’s main sandy beach, in 5 minutes. Yet don’t hesitate to make the most of your campsite stay, to discover all of the beaches, creeks and other swimming areas on our magnificent coast!
The 7 beaches of Plougasnou
The Grande Plage beach in Primel Trégastel
This is without doubt the most family-oriented beach in Plougasnou. It is 5 minutes from the campsite. In summer, swimming here is supervised by lifeguards. The beach has the Pavillon Bleu label, acknowledging the quality of its swimming waters. Note that it is one of the town’s only sandy beaches, the others for the most part being pebble beaches, only enabling sand to appear at low tide.
The Le Guerzit creek
The Plage du Guerzit beach creek is a sandy and pebble beach. This offers a family atmosphere, during the summer season and is perfect for those wishing to indulge in windsurfing.
The sheltered Anse de Térénez cove
The Anse de Térénez, where numerous sailors come and tie up their boats, is also home to a small sandy and pebble beach. This beach is a spot enjoyed by holidaymakers and locals who can come and admire the magnificent sunsets over the Baie de Morlaix bay here. There is notably a sailing school and children’s play facilities here.
The Ti Louzou beach
The Plage de Ti Louzou is a superb beach but nevertheless small, which means in summer it can sometimes be crowded, when finding a place on the sand or pebbles to put down your towel here!
The Port Blanc beach
The Plage de Port Blanc beach is also strewn with pebbles. It is at the far end of a cove, and during the summer season there are families here, enjoying its peace and surroundings.
The Saint Samson beach
The Plage de Saint Samson beach is opposite the Baie de Morlaix bay. It is a fine sandy beach running alongside a dune. You can swim here but also take advantage of the lovely sunsets that it offers all year round!
The Saint Jean du Doigt beach
Located between the town centre of Plougasnou and the village of Saint Jean du Doigt, also close to the Domaine de Mesqueau, the Plage de Saint Jean du Doigt beach is very large and bucolic. Renowned for being an excellent spot for shore fishing, this beach runs alongside the famous GR 34
